Flexible solar panels, as an innovative form of solar cell technology, operate on a similar principle to traditional solar panels, both based on the photoelectric effect. When sunlight shines on the photosensitive material of a flexible solar panel, photons excite electrons in the material, causing them to jump into the conductive bands, thus generating an electric current. This current then flows through the internal circuitry of the cell and can be used to power various electronic devices or stored for later use.

The key to flexible solar panels lies in their use of flexible substrate materials, rather than the rigid structure of traditional silicon substrates. This flexible substrate material possesses excellent flexibility and plasticity, allowing it to be freely bent and stretched on curved surfaces, thereby greatly expanding its application range.
